Castro County deputies had 10 assists, 13 citations, 55 warnings, one criminal citation, four arrests, two warrants and two transports. Drug seizures included 1.38 grams of marijuana and 1.08 grams of methamphetamine.

According to Sheriff Sal Rivera, there were a total of 144 calls received by first responders in March. The Sheriff’s Office received 55 calls; Dimmitt PD, 46 calls; Dimmitt Animal Control, two; Texas DPS, five calls; fire departments, six calls; and Castro County EMS, 30 calls. The Sheriff’s Office assisted other agencies with 10 calls.

The deputies racial profiling report showed a total of 68 stops made by the Sheriff’s Office, with 12 on city streets, 29 on US highways, 25 on state highways and two on country roads, with ethnicity unknown on all stops. There were no complaints of racial profiling.

Dimmitt VFD and Hart VFD received six calls and Nazareth VFD received three. Calls include page outs for fires, wrecks, medical calls (Hart VFD & Nazareth VFD), natural disasters, assistance in missing person searches and any other miscellaneous calls. Other fire departments will be other fire departments from other cities such as Hereford, Happy, Kress, Olton, Lazbuddie, Earth, and any other fire department assisting with mutual aid.

The county jails had an average of 33 inmates with four females and 12 males, and immigration detainers for two males and one female.

Out of county inmate housing included Cochran County inmates for $4,750 with $1,392 medical reimbursement; and Floyd County, $1,550.
