It is hard to imagine a vibrant and healthy community without a robust medical team and critical healthcare services. That much has been clear during this unprecedented time of great need for medical care.

To show our appreciation for the healthcare services and providers who are working tirelessly to protect our health and safety, Castro County Healthcare (CCH) is observing National Hospital Week and National Nursing Home Week during May 12-18, an opportunity to celebrate local healthcare services and the providers and staff who protect and care for the community.

“Although hospitals provide important healthcare services all year long, they play a critical role when the unexpected happens,” said Elisha Rosier, CEO of Castro County Healthcare. “We are fortunate to have robust healthcare services and a team of experienced professionals to protect our community.

“We are proud to have a hospital and County View Living nursing center that provides important care to Castro County and area residents. We have been the cornerstone of health and wellness in this community since 1963, and we are looking forward to many more years of growth and service to our neighbors.”

During National Hospital Week, thousands of hospitals across the country celebrate healthcare professionals and their services. A magazine editor who wanted to educate the public about the work of hospitals launched it in 1921. Since then, it has become one of the nation’s largest healthcare celebrations.

“National Skilled Nursing Care Week (NSNCW), formerly known as National Nursing Home Week, was established in 1967 by the American Health Care Association, recognizes the essential role of skilled nursing care centers in caring for the elderly, frail, and disabled, said County View Living Administrator, Laura Kimball, MBA, LNFA.

NSNCW has been held annually since 1967 and always begins on Mother’s Day. Kimball went on to say how grateful she is for her dedicated staff and “what an honor it is to care for our community’s loved ones.”

Rosier noted that CCH provides critical healthcare services in Castro County that residents would otherwise have to travel long distances to find. She explained that 149 rural hospitals have closed or reduced their services since 2010. At a time when many hospitals are cutting back on services or facing closure, CCH has remained resilient and committed to delivering important healthcare to the community.

Despite constant changes in the healthcare industry over the years, CCH has remained resilient and committed to delivering important healthcare to the community. The local medical center continues to grow and improve its programs, services and facilities.

Castro County Healthcare offers a large number of medical services, including 24-hour emergency care; advanced radiology services; a clinical laboratory; physical therapy; occupational services; a swing bed program for recovery near home, and more.

The hospital and nursing center, along with Medical Center of Dimmitt, are major contributors to the local economy, providing employment and support for community organizations and projects, all while providing important services to protect the health and safety of the community.

“We will continue to provide the critical healthcare services our community needs,” Rosier said. “Whether that is responding to a medical emergency or the everyday services and support to help our patients improve their wellbeing, your health is our priority.”
