Castro County Treasurer Elaine D. Flynt recently attended the 52nd Annual County Treasurers’ Continuing Education Seminar in San Marcos, April 15-18.

The conference brought together county treasurers from across the state, providing them with invaluable opportunities to enhance their service to Texans.

Hosted by the County Treasurers’ Association of Texas (CTAT), the annual seminar helps county treasurers complete their minimum continuing education requirements, which are set by the state. This year’s program offered 24 hours of credit to treasurers attending all the sessions, four hours of Public Funds Investment Act credit and four hours of continuing education for the Texas Association of Counties’ County Investment Academy.

“Attending this annual seminar helps me stay current with industry best practices and reaffirms my commitment to serving Castro County,” Flynt said.

The comprehensive agenda covered more than 20 topics, including sessions on ethics for county treasurers, ensuring compliance with county payments to elections workers and jurors, preparing for next year’s legislative session, and exploring alternatives to bank-pledged assets.

An optional mini conference delved into human resources trends and updates. It covered areas such as workers’ compensation, payroll compliance and other critical HR subjects.

A perennial highlight of the seminar is the recognition of nominees for CTAT’s Outstanding County Treasurer Award during a luncheon ceremony. The tradition celebrates excellence and dedication in the field.
