Amelia B. Gutierrez, 81 of Dimmitt, Texas, passed away on May 30, 2020 in Amarillo, Texas. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, June 3 at 10:30 a.m. in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with the Gutierrez family officiating. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt . Friends may come by and pay their condolences on Tuesday, June 2 from I - 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Amelia was born April 4, 193 9 to Sesario Barrera and Petra (Perez) Barrera in Santa Rosa, Texas. She was a longtime resident of Dimmitt. She worked for AMSTAR for several years and worked for Allsups and Town and Country where she was very well known. In 1983, Amelia went back and received her GED which she was very proud of. Amelia enjoyed listening to music and dancing while also spending much time reading during her past time. She loved working crossword puzzles and telling a good joke from time to time while making people laugh.

Amelia is survived by her children, Harvey Lumbrera and wife Lisa of Clovis, New Mexico, Jerry Guzman and wife Romelia of Plainview, Texas, Elizabeth Saldana and husband Federico of Amarillo, Texas, and Fidel Barrera of Amarillo; two brothers, Lalo Barrera of Dimmitt, and Emelio Barrera of Amarillo; three sisters, Adela Acevedo of Georgetown, Texas, G Ioria Montoya of Dimmitt, and Mo Puente of Amarillo; and 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
