Weldon Jones, 82 of Hart, Texas, passed away Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Hart with Pastor Donna Lindley officiating, burial to follow at Hart Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt, Texas.
Family and friend visitation will be Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Weldon was born April 30, 1936 in Plainview, Texas to Worth and Othella (Rouser) Jones. Weldon has been a lifelong resident of Hart, Texas. He married the love of his life Jonalyn Alldredge Jones on September 12, 1959. Weldon was a longtime farmer; he retired from farming and took up woodworking. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hart, Lions Club and was a Lion Boss, Hart Golden Group, City Council; he was on the school board, and a recipient of the Melvin Jones Award. Weldon was an avid sports fan; he enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys, the Mavericks and the Texas Rangers and he enjoyed playing solitaire.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Jonalyn Jones of Hart; two sons, Kelly Jones and his wife B.J. of Lewisville, Texas, and Scott Jones of Canyon, Texas; two sisters, Jeton Edge and husband John of Ft. Morgan, Colorado, and San Rainey of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Zach Jones, Blake Jones and Kelsie Jones; one great-grandchild, Jaxston Boyd; along with several cousins.
Weldon is preceded in death by his parents, Worth Jones and Othella (Rouser) Jones.
