Ramirez makes University of Nebraska Dean’s List

Kaileena Ramirez of Hereford has been named to the Deans' List at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the fall semester of the 2025-26 academic year.Ramirez, a freshman majoring in art, was named to the Dean's List for the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts.

Debra Whitley and Crista Worley of Forvis Mazars had the focused attention of the Deaf Smith County Hospital District board as they presented details of the year-end financial audit for 2025 at the February 19 meeting of the board.

Avian influenza waterfowl deaths noted in Panhandle, on South Plains

Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza continues to be indicated in waterfowl in the Texas Panhandle and South Plains, particularly on municipal water bodies.The City of Hereford issued an advisory to residents on December 9 after sick and dying birds were noted at the Hereford Aquatic Park Pond.
