Naz robotics rookies compete at scrimmage

Robotics season is about to get underway with teams from Nazareth, Hart and Dimmitt competing at a Texas-West and Panhandle Region scrimmage this past weekend at AmTech Center in Amarillo.

Nazareth had two all-rookie teams – Teams 18570 and 16617 - competing at the event. Naz robotics coach Robert O’Connor said it was an opportunity for the newest robotics students to gain some experience firsthand and get familiar with how the competitions work. The veteran Team 19782 - did not attend the scrimmage; they have been competing in the FIRST Tech Challenge for two seasons, and a total of seven official events and remain active.

The Nazareth program has been successful since its first year, qualifying to attend the World competition two years in a row, with the first year disrupted by COVID-19 restrictions that canceled the event, and again this past year where they made a grand showing as the smallest school competing, so the bar is set high for Nazareth.
