Former Friona police officer charge, convicted of sexual assault

A former Friona police officer charged with sexually assaulting at least two teenage boys was sentenced week to 20 years in federal prison.

According to U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Chad E. Meacham, Delia Ruiz, 31, pleaded guilty to enticement of a minor and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk.

In plea papers, Ruiz admitted she began having sexual intercourse with 16-year-old victim in fall 2020 and continued the relationship through spring 2021. Additionally, she admitted to having sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old victim in the spring of 2021.
