If Things Keep Going Wrong

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:8,

For many years, I knew I was a true Believe in the LORD Jesus Christ (since the summer I was 9 years old, when I received Christ as my Savior in Vacation Bible School at a small rural church), but there was so many things going wrong in my life that I was in a constant state of turmoil, in emotions, relationships, finances, and more.

As I started reading the Word of God and going to church more, pray and worship the LORD, and recognize Him for His amazing Grace and mercy and faithfulness and other goodness in my life, the light started turning on: i could call to Him, my Father through my belief in Jesus His Son, and He would help me overcome all this mess!

(1) Repent! Trust me, if things keep going wrong, then there is a reason or, more likely, several reasons! If wrong things keep happening in your life, then there are doors in your life that are open to the enemy.

This is going to be a short teaching, but the LORD will continue to lead you to additional resources--mostly His Word!--that will help you understand what the root is and how to have the Heavenly Father pull up every thing in your life that is against Him (Matthew 15:13).

The LORD is a good, good Father, and corrects us His true children: “My son, do not reject the discipline of the LORD, and do not loathe His rebuke; for the LORD disciplines the one He loves, as does a father the son in whom he delights.” Proverbs 3:11,12,

Even before you know what you need to repent of, you can just say, "Father, I thank You that You love me so much, and are continually working to make me more like Jesus--which is why I'm on the planet; to represent Jesus well, so others will be drawn to Him and born again. I repent right now of where I'm missing it and ask You to reveal to me what I need to correct, so the enemy can't keep messing up my life. You sent Jesus that I would have abundant life; Zoe life, as it is written in John 10:10. So, I receive Your help and thank You."

Spend more time with God. The more time you spend with the LORD--in His Word, listening to good Bible-based teaching and preaching (including going to church to assemble with the Body of Christ, as the LORD commands in Hebrews 10:25: ”..not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:25

Other ways to draw close to God are: listening to praise and worship music (when we focus on Him, we exalt Him and empower Him even more in our lives, plus we forget ourselves and our problems!); purposely otherwise doing good, kind things for others (which helps you to allow God, Who is Love (I John 4:8) to flow through you and cause you to forget yourself and your problems for a while, in addition to being rewarding because it is an act of giving)--the more you will understand the ways of God and start conforming your life to His.

(3) Ask Him to help you make right choices and not worry. Since every human is born under the curse, fear and anxiety, worry, and concern (which are really all the same thing!) are present at birth--and maybe even in the womb! However, Jesus is our Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6), and our Good Shepherd Who always leads us in right paths (Psalm 23).

“And let the peace (soul harmony which comes) from Christ rule (act as umpire continually) in your hearts [deciding and settling with finality all questions that arise in your minds, in that peaceful state] to which as [members of Christ’s] one body you were also called [to live]. And be thankful (appreciative), [giving praise to God always.” Colossians 3:15
