Swiftettes clench XC state title

The Nazareth Swiftettes brought home the Texas State Cross Country 1A title after competing at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock on Monday. The championship 2-mile race had 121 runners of the best runners in the state competing.

Dimmitt Bobbies volleyball was able to complete a full 2020 season of games despite the COVID-19 challenges that faced so many schools throughout the district. Coach Aimee Broom said while the results were not what they wanted, she, the other coaches and teams were “thankful for the opportunity to complete an entire season and compete in volleyball.” “While the record does not indicate a great season, what these girls fought through as a team and individuals cannot shown in a score.” Coached by Aimee Broom, the Bobbies Varsity team had a 1-19 record.

Swiftettes defeat Lady Demons, 36-17

The Nazareth Swiftettes beat the Dumas Lady Demons, 36-17. Nazareth got off to a slow start scoring two points in the first quarter, with Dumas taking the lead 7-2, but bounced back in the second quarter to tie the game up, 12-12.

Bobcats edge out Bulldogs, 48-46

The Dimmitt Bobcats won a nail-biter against the Borger Bulldogs, 48-46. The Bobcats took a narrow lead in the first quarter over the Bulldogs, 7-3, but Borger pushed through in the second quarter to tie the game up 20-20 as the first half ended.

Bobcats fall to Whitefaces, 59-31

The Dimmitt Bobcats lost their bout against the Hereford Whitefaces, 59-31. The Bobcats took a onepoint lead in the first quarter, 9-8, but lost ground in the second quarter as the Whitefaces offense kicked into gear and gained a 25-15 lead, closing the first half with Dimmitt trailing.

Swifts defeat Broncos, 55-35

The Nazareth Swifts claimed a victory over the Clarendon Broncos, 55-35. The Swifts took the lead in the first quarter, holding the Broncos to 13-10.

Swifts defeat Westerners, 54-45

The Nazareth Swifts claimed a victory over the Lubbock HS Westerners on Friday, 54-45. The Swifts took the lead in the first quarter, outscoring the Westerners by seven points, 17-10.

Bobbies scorch Wildcats, 67-36

The Dimmitt Bobbies scored a big victory against the Wellman Wildcats on Saturday, 67-36. The Bobbies took the lead in the first quarter, 21-13, with Analyce Robertson leading the offense in shooting with seven point, followed by Kaylee Lujan with four points.

March Madness on schedule

It appears the NCAA will move the 2021 NCAA men's basketball tournament to a single location "to enhance the safety and well-being of the event." The NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee announced on Monday that it was in preliminary talks with the city of Indianapolis to potentially host the 68-team tournament in March and April. Indianapolis was already slated to host the Men's Final Four, which is April 3– 5, 2021.
