Democrat Aaron Arguijo kicked off his Texas Senate campaign in Dimmitt recently and several local supporters attended to cheer and spur him on to victory: Gloria Hernandez, Gwen Lewis, Zaira Arguijo, Kay Wendeborn, Joyce Thomas, Angie Casas, Olgo Saucedo and Elizabeth Ojeda. Arguijo’s campaign launch featured a band, various speakers and a street dance. Should Arguijo make it through the Democratic primaries, he is likely to face Republican Kel Seliger in the general election.
Beginning Sept. 1, people who were previously convicted for unlawfully carrying a gun can have their records wiped clean.
For decades, those convicted of unlawful carry of a firearm (UCW) have been unable to expunge their records. This legal roadblock has been the cause of grief for thousands of people who just want to move on from their criminal past.
