Hegar reports record tax revenues

State Comptroller Glenn Hegar said Texas had recordhigh tax revenues over the last year, giving Texas lawmakers an extra $27 billion to spend in the 2023 legislative session.

He said, lawmakers will have $149.07 billion in general funds, compared to the last regular legislative session in 2021 at $112.5 billion.

The extra $27 billion comes from more revenue coming in to the state than expected, and other factors could continue to push it up.
