DPD moves to new facility

The Dimmitt Police Department, which has been housed at the Dimmitt City Hall, made a move to its new building last week on 115 W. Jones.

City manager Daniel Jackson said the new police department project was presented to the city council at an open meeting on Jan. 31 and the building was toured the same evening. Upon returning to council chambers, Jackson said he told the council the DPD has needed a new facility for quite some time, having outgrown their offices, and no room to expand.

According to Jackson, the DPD has seven fulltime officers, one part-time officer, one records clerk/dispatcher and one animal control officer.
