The 2022 mid-term elections are underway across the state with early voting beginning on Oct. 24 through Nov. 4 and the general election on Nov. 8.
The Castro County Judge election between Janet Sammann (I) and Mandy Gfeller (R) will be decided by voters, with other offices having candidates running unopposed in the general election and already declared winners. Those include District/County Clerk, JoAnna Blanco; County Treasurer, Elaine Flynt; County Tax-Assess/Collector, Connie Gilbreath; County Commissioner Pct. 2, Tim Elliot; County Commissioner Pct. 4, Ralph Brockman; and Justice of the Peace, Mary Ewing.
Also, on the ballots for specific precincts in Castro County are the DISD and Hereford ISD tax elections to raise property tax rates inside the school districts. These require voter approval since they go above the state-approved rate increases.
