Texas added 40,000 nonfarm jobs according to the Texas Workforce Commission and Labor Department U3 data, more than doubling the number of jobs added in August. The Texas economy has added 721,800 positions since September 2021.
The Texas seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.0 percent, a decrease of 0.1 percentage points from August 2022.
Leisure and hospitality job growth surged in September with 25,700 positions added, marking an 11.8 percent overthe- year change. Second in over-the-month growth, trade, transportation, and utilities grew by 7,600 jobs. Financial activities followed with a gain of 6,200 jobs.
