The Lubbock Planning & Zoning Commission denied recommending a zoning change to accommodate the 740-bed Up Campus student housing project in the Tech Terrace Following three houses of arguments for and against, the commission said no to recommending the zoning change of the Godbold and Café J area to the Lubbock City Council.
Common arguments for those against the development of the area were traffic issues, lowering property values and the number of students living in the complex.
The president of the Tech Terrace U.N.I.T. board said the neighborhood association was against the current proposed plan, but not against development of the area as long as it fits the vision and mission of the neighborhood.
