Last week was not only a busy week, but it was a fun one also. Whitten had a band concert. He is in the fifth grade and plays the coronet. They played three songs in the concert, and their band sounds really good.

Tulia athletes, family and fans celebrated the accomplishments of the Hornets and Lady Hornets at the Athletic Banquet held at Linda’s Event Center on April 28th. Ernie’s Fried Chicken catered the banquet.

Tulia City Council held a regularly scheduled meeting on May 12, 2026 in the Council Chambers of Tulia City Hall. No public comments were heard and the Consent Agenda was approved.Oath of Office was administered to the newly elected council members.

Grain Grading Workshop set for Aug. 12-13

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host two single-day grain grading workshops on Aug. 12 and Aug. 13 at the West Texas A&M Ag Pavilion, 600 WTAMU Drive, Canyon.The workshop runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day and is open to anyone interested in grain grading.

Kress Evacuated due to Fire

Fires flared up near Kress on Monday afternoon. The first fire was reported near US Highway 87 and County Road Z. The City of Kress was evacuated before 4:00 for the safety of the citizens. A second fire quickly developed between Kress and Tulia east of I-27.

The Country Friends EE Club met on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at the Annex Building in Tulia. Members in attendance included Nancy Bonds, Anna Leatherman, Karen Barnett, Sheila Via, Tammy Price, Renee Hartman, Glenda Gibson, Diane Powers, Debbie Bales, and Becky Tucker.
