County Judge Mandy Gfeller and commissioners gave their seal of approval for a resolution name April as Child Abuse Prevention Month.
The resolutions states that child abuse and neglect in the county are a serious problem affecting every segment of the community and finding solutions requires input and action from everyone.
“The children of Castro County are our most valuable source and also the most vulnerable and have the right to be safe and the opportunity to thrive and grow in an environment that fosters healthy development… “We acknowledge we must work together as a community to increase awareness about child abuse and contribute to promote the social and emotional well-being of our children and families in a safe, stable and nurturing environment because the children of our community will shape the future of our county.
