The Dimmitt City Council on Aug. 29, at an open and public meeting, approved amending the Official Fee Schedule to increase the water rates, sewer rates, garbage rates, various permit fees, and other fees charged by the City of Dimmitt to be effective Sept. 15.

City Manager Daniel Jackson stated that there was a need to increase the rates due to the increased cost of material, equipment, and utility services needed to provide the city with water, sewer, and garbage services.

When presenting the new fee schedule to the city council, Jackson also presented the utility rates of surrounding municipalities, showing that Dimmitt’s new utility rates are still significantly lower than neighboring cities.
