DISD trustees elect school board officers

The Dimmitt ISD Board of Trustees met on May 10 and approved the results of the regular election for Places 1 and 5. All places were uncontested.

The oath of offices was administered by Darla Fisher to Richard Martinez – Place 1, and Justin Edwards - Place 5. The three-year terms began effective May 10.

Board officers were elected with Clay Lytle vote in as president, Richard Martinez, vice president, and Mary Helen Flores, secretary.

In other business, the board approved a change order at the DISD Sports Complex. A change of an additional $16,000 will be added to the amount originally authorized.

In other action, trustees approve two donations to the DISD general scholarship fund, one from PAASB for $500 and another for $625.92 from the Class of 1977.

Superintendent Jill Millican gave a update to the board. The WTAMU Spring Board Training was set for May 12; DHS graduation, May 14, Eight Grade Promotion May 18; and the Employee Awards Lunch, May 19.

FCCLA students Javier Mendoza and Monica Flores reported on the FCCLA program at DHS.

The DISD enrollment for week 31 was at 1,151 students compared 1,216 at the same time last year.
