The Castro County 4-H Educational Presentations competitors did very well in the Share the Fun competition, with several headed for state.
The District 4-H contest was held virtually this year; individuals had to record their performances and upload them.

The Castro County January photo challenge brought in some great photos with a theme of “Hometown”.
The 3rd-8th grade Best of the Month went to Brant White. Best of 9th-12th grade went to Chloe Birkenfeld. The theme for February is ‘Shadows”. The February theme is “Shadows.”
Veterinary Science camps are now open for registration, with numerous locations in Texas and one in New Mexico. The deadline is March 8. To register and for more information, visit the website at the link to fill out an application: forms.gle/3BVxLKAfPKQW6fpe7.
Summer camp applications are now open offering the same line up of 4-H programs. The summer will kick off with the Horizons Camps I on June 21, followed by Horizons Camp II on June 26.
Horizons Camp is an opportunity for youth in grades 4-8 to participate in a more content focused camp. Each Horizons Camp has tracks that youth may choose to participate in. Each track will focus its programming on the subject throughout the duration of camp. Youth will also have time to participate in allcamp activities in the evenings such as dances, campfires and team challenges.
Mission Possible, beginning June 27, is a camping opportunity for youth in grades 3-12 (up to age 21) that have medically diagnosed disabilities. Mission Possible offers a coeducational, traditional camping program in an inclusive environment. Registration fees cover all program supplies, meals, lodging, and health care. Registrations will be accepted until May 27.
Prime Time is an age specific camping opportunity that offers traditional camping programs. Prime Time I, beginning on July 10, is for youth in grades 3-5 and Prime Time II, starting July 13, is for youth in grades 6-9. Prime Time offers a camp experience catered towards a more specific age group. Programming includes activities such as archery, rifle, fishing, kayaking, challenge course, dancing, swimming, team challenges and more.
Summer camps are held at the Texas 4-H Conference Center on Lake Brownwood.

Applications for the 2022 Ambassador program are now being accepted. High school 4-Hers who have a strong passion for either the livestock or equine industries are encouraged to apply to become an ambassador. The deadline is May 1.

-Texas A&M-Kingsville Livestock Ambassador Short Course; June 20-23;
-Texas A&M Ambassador Short Course, July 18-21; and
-WTAMU/Texas Tech Livestock Ambassador Short Course, July 25-28.
