‘This is the city.’
Jack Webb (as Joe Friday) opened each radio and television program with the familiar phrase. The show was Dragnet; the city, Los Angeles.
Imagine, you in his role. Where do you live? It may be a city of millions, a village, or township. Whatever the size; it is home and has people of different backgrounds and behaviors.
This is the city.
Jesus is coming to your city.
There, He'll see a welcoming sign at the city limits with population numbers.
Does your city have a bright future?
Is Jesus welcome?
This is the city.
“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who have been sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, just as a hen gathers her young under her wings, and you were unwilling (Luke 13:34 NASB)!”
My home is Epps. Jesus wants to gather our people into His fold.
He approaches.
“When He approached Jerusalem, He saw the city and wept over it (Luke 19:41 NASB).”
Will we make Jesus weep; will I?
