A fire on U.S.

A fire on U.S. Hwy 60 which was called in last Friday at 1:33 p.m. blazed up and burned a lengthy swath of land along the highway. According to Sheriff Sal Rivera, the cause of the fire is unknown but could be due to sparks from a truck’s brakes or a cigarette thrown out of a car window. The fire extended into Deaf Smith County. Hereford Fire Department responded due to Summerfield being 7 miles the city and one Dimmitt Fire Department Truck responded.
