Castro County Treasurer Elaine Flynt joined colleagues from across the state of Texas at the 51st Annual County Treasurer’s Continuing Education Seminar recently.

The seminar was held in San Marcos on April 17-20 and offered attendees the opportunity to learn new and vital information to better serve the county.

Hosted by the County Treasurer’s Association of Texas (CTAT), the seminar helps county treasurers complete their minimum CE requirements which are set by the state. This year’s seminar offered 24 hours of credit, five hours of Public Funds Investment Act credit and five hours of CE for the County Investment Academy.

Topics included in the program included a Public Information Act to-do list, local investment policy, payroll compliance and best practices and records retention.

The seminar also offered an optional miniconference of a discussions regarding special funds, uses and free reports to the state comptroller’s office, e-filings and reviewed what flags to watch for to avoid an audit.

A highlight of the event is the honoring of the nominees of CTAT’s Outstanding County Treasurer Award during a luncheon ceremony.
