The New Year saw Mandy Gfeller being sworn as the new Castro County judge and eager to take up her duties as a local public servant representing the citizens.

Gfeller entered the primaries as a Republican challenger to incumbent Carroll Gerber and ran a strong campaign and won that bid. During the general election she was on the November ballot facing independent candidate Janet Sammann, receiving 794 votes to 661 votes, giving her the victory.

Gfeller was joined at the Castro County Courthouse on Jan. 1 for the swearing in and was joined by her family for the proud moment.

Judge Gfeller is the wife of Matt Gfeller. The couple has two children and extended family in the county. Matt farms/ranches and the couple owns two businesses in Dimmitt, with their son, attorney Mavrick, getting Rancher’s Direct meat packing operation built and underway. Daughter Maddie is completing her college education and helps with the businesses.
