“Thanks for your help, Dave! Now I can finally receive email on my tablet!” said the lady who attended Dave’s Tech Talk last week here at Rhoads Memorial Library. Dave Nelson of DTN (Dimmitt Technology Networks) led the session and provided tech insight to other attendees, too.

He will offer another free hour-long session on Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 10 a.m. in our meeting room, with Skip Skinner assisting. So, if you have some issue with your computer, tablet, or cell phone and need assistance with it, feel free to stop by.

Early voting has begun and will continue through Nov. 3. The Castro County Courthouse is the early voting polling site where 14 amendments to the Texas Constitution are being offered for public voting. If you miss this voting period, election day is Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Newly released books that have arrived and are ready for checkout include: -”The Exchange: After the Firm” (a thriller) by John Grisham; -”The Twelve Dogs of Christmas” (a novel) by Susan Wiggs; -”Second Act” (a novel) by Danielle Steel; -”The Intern” (a novel) by Michele Campbell.

That last book, “The Intern,” follows Madison Rivera, a young Harvard law student who lands the internship of a lifetime working for her mentor, Judge Kathryn Conroy. But Madison’s world is upended when Danny, her troubled younger brother, is arrested and winds up in Judge Conroy’s court.

He goes missing after accusing the judge of corruption. Madison’s search for answers brings her into the judge’s glamorous world, and Madison tries to figure out if the judge is a criminal, using Madison as a pawn. As the two women engage in a dangerous game of catand- mouse, will they save each other, or will betrayal leave one of them dead?

Another new release is a novel titled “What Wild Women Do” by Karma Brown. The book’s blurb notes that the story features “an aspiring contemporary screenwriter, a 1970s socialite-turned-feminist, and the camp in the woods that ties their stories together forever...examining ambition, betrayal, and the wildness that exists in all of us.”

We will be closed Friday, Nov. 10, and Saturday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veteran’s Day. We will reopen at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14, eager to assist you until we close later in the month for the Thanksgiving holiday!

Until next week, Happy Reading!
