Leprechauns and the Easter Bunny are sharing space here at Rhoads Memorial Library, a fact noted by several patrons. Since St. Patrick’s Day and an early Easter observance are only two weeks apart this year, we decided to decorate our facility with items announcing their arrival concurrently.

But observing leprechauns and gnomes coexisting with bunnies and Easter eggs is not the only reason to visit our library. We have received a plethora of new releases and donations in book form, and they are ready for checkout. They include: -”Becoming Madam Secretary” by Stephanie Dray is a work of historical fiction based on the life of Frances Perkins. Raised on tales of contributions made by her Revolutionary era ancestors, she is determined to make a difference in the world.

She meets a young lawyer named Franklin Delano Roosevelt at a tea dance, and they both form unfavorable first impressions of each other. Frances thinks he is a “rich, arrogant dilettante who gets by on a handsome face and a famous name; he believes she is a priggish bluestocking and insufferable do-gooder.” Little do they know that they will form a historic partnership that will carry them both to the White House.

-”Every Single Secret” is a suspense/thriller by Christina Dodd that features Rowan Winterbourne, the solitary resident of a lighthouse on the California coast. Rowan’s raison d’etre is to exact revenge on the powerful drug and arms dealer who murdered her mother and vowed to eliminate everyone in her family. But can Rowan pull it off and escape with her life?

-”Listen for the Lie” by Amy Tintara is a Good Morning America Book Club pick that author Stephen King calls “a worldclass whodunit.” The dark comedy/thriller finds best friends Lucy and Savvy with reputations as golden girls in their small Texas town, at least until Lucy and everyone else believes that Lucy killed Savvy.

Lucy, who can’t remember what happened that dreadful night, marries a dreamy guy and moves to Los Angeles, hoping to make a fresh start. Years later, though, a podcast highlights the murder and Lucy is forced to return back to the place she vowed to never set foot in again to solve her friend’s murder, even if she is the culprit.

Please be reminded that Tuesday, March 19, is the date set for another session of “Cooking Well With Diabetes.” The meeting starts at noon and will feature lunch for attendees who RSVP by calling 806485-9135.

We’ll be closed on Good Friday, March 29, and Saturday, March 30, in observance of Easter. We will re-open on Tuesday, April 2, at 9 a.m.

Until next week, Happy Reading!
