"For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him." (Colossians 1:16)
Here and in other verses, like Isaiah 43:7-21 and Romans 11:36, God informs us that He made us to worship Him.
Every person ever born was made for worship, but not everyone chooses God to be that object of worship. For those not rooted and grounded in Christ, free will can get in the way and lead people into the worship of other things, or people, like money, fame, celebrities, and/or of course, the self, but literally anything that is exalted above God, it could even be a hobby, spouse, pass time or favorite sin. Sadly, this even happens to some without their even realizing this life-altering, sinful condition.
But God has provided other eye-popping ways for His followers to make this connection, like the warning against idol worship as the first 2 in the 10 Commandments for example:
“You shall have no other gods before Me. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them." (Exodus 20:3-5)
Even the unsaved world acknowledges that worship can involve something or someone other than God, or other socalled deities.
It may not be overtly obvious, but everyone does in fact worship something or someone. Another earthly condition, this one we all share, is that we were all born with that selfish, sinful nature, that the devil; the god of this world kicked off in the garden. That coupled with the conditioning of the world, the distracting appeal of indulging the flesh not only becomes hard to resist but can literally cause a sort of brainwashing.
Inasmuch as God knew this world has never and will never hold any 'Get Back To God' reprograming sessions, He provided us with His Program---JESUS CHRIST and the Ministry of His Spirit in us; the only proper reprogramming system, which He made clear in His Word in hundreds of verses, like these:
"Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God."
1 John 4:15
"Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus." Philippians 2:5
"And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one." John 10:28-30
"Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12
Currently, the secular community is talking about reprogramming Christian conservatives to think like global liberals. Unbeknownst to them, they are the ones that need reprogramming!
Worship is the highest form of love and compliment. It is the acknowledgment of an image or idea as higher; superior to man in every way and... We were designed to worship something...
