Workforce Solutions Panhandle is partnering with Amarillo College and the Panhandle Behavioral Health Alliance to begin offering courses for its new Mental Health Technician program.

The certification course is designed to prepare students to enter the field of mental health services as a Mental Health Technician (MHT). The 6-week certification will consist of 48 clock hours of in-person classroom instruction and 72 clock hours of clinical “handson experience "at a healthcare facility.

Local healthcare employers have requested this type of training for their mental health treatment teams. Graduates from the training will work directly with patients who are facing disabilities, illnesses, or addiction as well as working alongside physicians, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
