Comptroller Glenn Hegar distributed nearly $1.1 billion in monthly sales tax revenue to local governments this past week.

Hagar said the allocations for this May were 28.4 percent more than May 2020, and 21.9 percent more than May 2019.

These allocations are based on sales made in March by businesses that report tax monthly and sales made in January, February and March by quarterly filers.

Locally, Castro County and Dimmitt both saw drops from the previous year. The county received $18,879, 8.56 percent less than 2020. Dimmitt had a 1.99 percent decrease from the same time last year.

Hart and Nazareth both saw increases in sales tax revenue. Hart received $4,650, a 3.21 percent rise, and Nazareth increased by 48.34 percent, receiving $4,650.

Total net payments this period for all counties was $62,209,198.37 compared to the prior year at $51,601,003, a 20.56 percent change.
