Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Psalms 150:6

These are some of the final words written in the Book of Psalms. What a powerful final exclamation! Everyone knows a word or two from The Psalms: The Lord is my shepherd, shout for joy all the earth, I lift my eyes up to the hills – where does my help come from, Oh Lord our Lord how majestic is your name of all the earth. Regardless of your situation in life, there is a Psalm for you.

Many of the Psalms were written out of real-life context and included in worship. Some Psalms are very general in a call to praise while others are more practical in moments of grief or thanksgiving. It is easy to identify with the Psalmist and be moved by these words of expression.

In a culture that is beginning to ignore the words of the Bible as old fashioned, the Psalms are a great way to invite others back into relationship. Everyone has walked through the valley of the shadow of death. Everyone has faced waters up to my neck. Everyone has yearned for a restored soul. When we engage people with the reallife moments of the Psalms, we are praising the Lord with our breath – the very breath the Lord gives us.

I hope you will take the time to get back into The Book of Psalms. This is a great way to praise the Lord and find restoration in your daily life.
