Vasquez sworn in as newest deputy

The newest addition to the Castro County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Caylan Q. Vasquez, was sworn in by Castro County Justice of the Peace Stephen ‘Flip’ Taylor on Jan. 28

Ṫhe swearing in ceremony was held at the Sheriff's Office with Sheriff Sal Ravira, Chief Deputy Michael Pantoja, and Vasquez’s mother, significant other and son in attendance.

Deputy Vasquez is originally from Hart, Texas and was raised in Plainview where he graduated from high school. He attended the South Plains College Law Enforcement Academy, graduating in August 2021.

“ I got into law enforcement to help people and change people’s lives,” said Vasquez. “Being from Hart, I wanted to come back and be close to home.”

Vasquez is currently on active duty and a welcome addition to the Castro County Sheriff’s Office.
