Two vehicle car crash at FM 1055

The Castro County Sheriff’s Office answered a 911 call on Monday afternoon reporting a major crash and one person trapped in a vehicle at the intersection of FM 1055 and Texas Hwy 86. According to the report, a white 2011 Ford passenger car was traveling south bound and the white 2013 Chevrolet 4-door pickup truck was traveling westbound. FM 1055 is a stop intersection for north and south bound traffic. The driver of the white car was Alfredo Ortega Fuentes, 48 of Dimmitt; and the driver of the pickup was Mario Andrade Gomez, 29 of Nazareth. First responders at the scene were the Castro County Sheriff’s Office, Dimmitt Fire Department, AMR EMS and Texas DPS. The accident is being investigated by DPS Trooper Narciso Quiroz.

Playa field day set for Sept. 28 in Anton

The Castro County Sheriff’s Office on Sept. 12, executed a State of Texas search warrant and found drugs resulting in the arrest of Vincent John Padilla.

Hegar distributes $1B in sales tax revenue

Castro County Hands of Hope is desperately in need of a new location. Cofounder and current vice president Janet Sammann said the building they currently occupy has been sold and must be vacated by Oct. 1.

City council approves water rate increases

The Dimmitt City Council on Aug. 29, at an open and public meeting, approved amending the Official Fee Schedule to increase the water rates, sewer rates, garbage rates, various permit fees, and other fees charged by the City of Dimmitt to be effective Sept. 15.
