Willey signs with WBU

Dimmitt Bobcats basketball player ConLer “CJ” Willey is bound for Wayland Baptist University to continue his basketball career, joining the WBU Pioneers. Willey broke the 1,000-point scoring mark as a Bobcat varsity player and as a valuable asset on both offense and defense.

Hegar distributes $1.2B in sales tax revenue

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations for May 4, 3 percent more than in May 2022.

Swifts win regional quarterfinals

The Nazareth Swifts won their two games against Borden County this past week, 15-3 and 11-1, and will advance to play Claude in the semifinal round in a double header this Thursday at Hodgetown in Amarillo. The first game begins at 6 p.m. ; with the second following 30 minutes after game 1.

Rep. Slaton ousted from Texas House

The Texas House unanimously voted to expel Bryan Slaton on Tuesday, just one day after the Royse City representative submitted his resignation. Slaton resigned after an internal investigation determined that he had sex with a 19-year-old aide after getting her drunk.

Bagley, Schulte win 4-H scholarships

The Castro County 4-H Club announced local winners for the Texas 4-H Foundation scholarships. Tell Bagley, from Nazareth High School, received $20,000 for the Davidson Foundation Scholarship. Luke Schulte, also from Nazareth High School, received $20,000 for the Houston Livestock Show Scholarship.
