Texas Medical Association urges testing for all students

Texas physicians recommend schools use rapid antigen testing along with other on-campus safety measures to detect early signs of coronavirus infection among students and staff. The recommendation comes from the Texas Medical Association (TMA) School Reopening Workgroup, which includes physician members of the TMA COVID-19 Task Force, Committee on Infectious Diseases, and Committee on Child and Adolescent Health, and local health authorities from throughout the state.

Sheriff’s Office kicks off annual Toy Drive

The Castro County Sheriff’s Office is kicking off its annual Toy Drive to benefit the children of Castro County who may not be as fortunate. Last year, the Sheriff’s Office was able to provide toys to over 80 children in Castro County.

Castro County Museum has few days that pass without an unusual encounter of one kind or another, according to Leta Dennis. Dennis said she never knows when to answer that “unknown caller” phone call or to whom she will be speaking or what request for information she is about to hear.

Thanksgiving 2020 is upon us, and despite the fact that some say "2020" is the new curse word, we can find things for which to be grateful. Here at Rhoads Memorial Library, we are delighted that plans held together, and we were able to re-open on Nov. 20. Currently we are closed to observe Thanksgiving, but hope to re-open at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1. We will observe our normal schedule by being open through Friday from 9 a.m. til 6 p.m. and Saturday mornings.

A Fresh Breeze

One of the things I love about spring and fall weather is they are characterized by having a breeze. Sometimes those breezes are more a strong gust or ongoing wind advisory, but most days they are gentle and refreshing. I love it.

Easy Way To Have Peace

Almost everything is connected with the word, "Peace". Not only this, every society needs peace for progress to take place. One truth is that a society that will have peace will have people who have a peace of mind. Meaning that individuals who are at peace with themselves will be at peace with others in the same community. No one will be a threat to another. They will seek each other's peace.
