The fun of summer reading program continues here at Rhoads Memorial Library as youngsters enter the July phase of the event. As they continue reading, they are eligible to enter a drawing for grand prizes that range from small robotics to cuddly stuffed animals to Wonderland passes.

Use of temporary paper car tags ends

Purchasing a car in Texas got a little more complicated.House Bill 718, which was passed in 2023, went into effect on July 1 and car buyers in Texas will no longer get temporary paper tags when they purchase a vehicle.

State sales tax revenue totals $4B

Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock reported that state sales tax revenue totaled $4.04 billion in June, 2.5 percent more than in June 2024.The majority of June sales tax revenue is based on sales made in May and remitted to the agency in June.
