Texas measles case list rises to 717

The measles epidemic continues to spread with the current number of cases reported at 717 since the onset, though some counties have been removed from the list of outbreaks.Ninety-three of the patients have been hospitalized over the course of the outbreak.

Snack Pak 4 Kids of Dimmitt thanked BHE Renewables for their generous donation to the program. There are currently over 200 students in Dimmitt ISD that receive weekly snack bags throughout the school year and summer months. The program is 100% funded through local donations and 100% of all donations is used to purchase food for the students. Bill introduced to support Texas cattle ranchers

Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and John Cornyn (R-Texas) today introduced the Livestock Indemnity Program Enhancement Act, which helps ensure Texas cattle ranchers impacted by natural disasters have access to resources they need to recover.

Local students named to SPC honors list

South Plains College in Levelland announced the students making the president’s and dean’s list for the spring semester, five of which were from Castro County.Justice Velasquez of Dimmitt was among 400 students named to the president’s list. To qualify, students must earn a GPA of 4.
