Texas legislators to tackle numerous issues

State leaders have been filing bills in anticipation of the next Texas legislative session which begins in January. Among those are bills concerning abortion, LGBTQ, guns, education energy, emergency declarations and books banned in public schools.

Texas gets little assistance on border crisis

After several busloads of illegal migrants from the southwest border of Texas were dropped near Vice President Kamala Harris’ DC home, the White House accused Texas Governor Greg Abbott of endangering lives, after ignoring a plea from Abbott for assistance.

Texas unemployment at 4%

In November 2022, the Texas economy added 657,600 positions annually while the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained at 4.0 percent in November. The not seasonally adjusted rate was 3.4 percent.

Airlines leave holiday travelers stranded

Southwest Airlines dramatically reduced its flight schedule and has stopped selling tickets for most of the country. The Dallas-based airline reported it will be cutting about two-thirds of its flights from about 4,000 to around 1,400 in the coming days in an attempt to “reset” operations.
