LPD responds to murder, suicide

Court records indicate that a mother and her two teenage sons were slain last week in a South Lubbock home as a result of domestic violence that culminated in in what appears to be a murder-suicide.

According to reports, Lubbock police detective believe William David Boyles, 48, shot and killed Anjelica Vasquez, 46, and her two teenage sons before setting fire to their home, and then killing himself.

Boyles lived at the home with Vasquez and her sons, according to documents.

Investigators believe one of the sons was on the phone with his girlfriend, who overheard Vasquez and Boyles arguing. She told investigators that she heard two to three shots followed by the screams of Vasquez and her son, then followed by silence on the phone. She hung up the phone and called 911.

Lubbock police responded to the report to find the home engulfed in flames. Officers called fire crews and evacuated homes to east and west of the residence, while other officers went to the rear of the burning house, kicked in the garage door to locate anyone who could be rescued, however it was deemed unsafe to enter. The blaze was contained about an hour later.

Once investigators were able to enter the structure, they found the bodies of Boyles, Vasquez and her sons. inside, investigators found the bodies of Boyles, Vasquez and her two sons, as well as eight .45 caliber shell casings, two loaded .45 caliber pistols and two 9mm handguns, along with two bottles of lighter fluid and a lighter.
