Cross Country teams bound for regionals

Dimmitt, Nazareth and Hart High School cross country teams will be bound for the Regional XC meets in Lubbock, with all schools qualifying both boys and girls runners/teams.

Dimmitt varsity boys placed first at the District 3A meet on Oct. 10 held in Lubbock, qualifying the team for the Regional competition, with the Bobcats taking the three top times in the Top 5 and securing five runners in the Top 10. There were 38 runners in the 3-mile event.

Taking top honors was Jordan Garcia placing first in the field with a time of 17:17.72, followed by Azariah Gonzalez, second place, 18:27.69, Adan Sanchez, third place, 18:38.21, Ryan Nino, 18:53.67, Erick Rivera, eighth place, 19:03.38, Eduardo Peralta, 13th place, 19:34.13, and Juan Cruz, 25th place, 22:10.43.

Dimmitt JV boys runner Zayvion Gonzalez placed first with a time of 19:48.64.

Dimmitt varsity girls placed third as a team and qualified to attend the Regional meet. There were 47 runners in the 2-mile contest.

Caitlyn Olmos was on top for her team, placing 13th with a time of 14:58.12, followed by Olivia Rivera, 14th, 15:03.59, Tessa Gomez, 17th,

15:14.41, Rosalinda Comparan, 19th, 15:20.96, Jazlene Martinez, 21st, 1.5:32.21, and Arithana Lopez, 32nd, 16:39.86.

Dimmitt JV girls runner Cierra Martinez placed fifth with a time of 18:21.53

Nazareth varsity girls won District and will be attending the Regional 1A meet. There were 31 runners in the 2-mile run.

Leading the Naz team was Kelsi Gunter who place first with a time of 14:44, followed by Chloe Birkenfeld, second place, 15:05, Clementine Myrick, sixth place, 15:41, Bliss Betzen, ninth, 16:28, Riley Ramaekers, 16:36, and Emerson Moore, 14th, 17:11.

The Naz boys varsity runners, Bryson Brockman, fifth place, and Simon Snead, ninth place, both qualified for Regionals (no times available).

Hart High School varsity girls qualified for regionals with a team placing of second. Mia Minjarez placed third to lead her team. (No other stats available). The Hart JV girls placed second as a team.

Hart varsity runners Anthony Flores placed seventh, and Alton Washington placed 10th; both are qualified to compete at the Regional meet in Lubbock.

Junior high runners also competed at District.

The Naz Junior High girls team competed and took first place as a team. Individual placings for the 13 runners: Townli Wheeler, second; Addie Schulte, fifth; Mallory Wilhelm, sixth; Lexi Ramaekers, seventh; Jolee Pigg, ninth; Bridget Osterkamp, 13th; Kate Brockman, 18th; Kambri Cleavinger, 19th; Taryn Wethington, 24th; Jentri Birkenfeld, 26th; Anna Chea, 27th; Taylor Wethington, 28th; Callen Hockstein, 31st; and Alishia Osterkamp, 35th.

Hart Junior High girls also competed, with Adamaris Morales placing second, America Cardoza, fourth place, Braelynn Geopfert, 12th, Sarah Morales, 17th, and Hannah Hernandez, 18th.

Dimmitt Middle School boys competed in a 2-mile run against 43 runners, placing 4th as team.

Leading the DMS runners was Frankie Francisco, 7th; Josh Seaton, 18th; Eric Gomez, 33rd; and Lucas Olvera, 35th.

Dimmitt Middle School girls competed against 53 runners in a 2-mile run, with Zoraya Ontiveros placing sixth, 15:53.03; Saydi Rosas, 11th, 16:44.34; and Lily Rodriguez, 13th, 17:06.07.
