Dimmitt and Hart XC teams competed at the Plainview Invitation Cross Country Meet held at Running Waters Draw Regional Park this past Saturday.

Divisions were split between 1A-2A; 3A-4A; and 5A-6A. The junior varsity competitors ran in all-inclusive divisions.

The DHS Bobcats ran against five schools with 38 runners in the 3A-4A Men’s 3 Mile Varsity division.

The Bobcats placed second as a team, with Azariah Gonzales leading the Dimmitt boys in the top 10 placings with a third place and time of 17:05.75. Ryan Nino came in eighth with 18;07.99; and Adan Sanchez, 18:22.44.

The top five schools for the 3A-4A in the team placings were Slaton, Dimmitt, Abernathy, Friona, and Lubbock Christian. Other schools participating were Shallowater, Littlefield and Lubbock Christian.

The DHS Bobbies varsity athletes competed in the 3A-4A 2 Mile run against 43 runners from Shallowater, Abernathy, Slaton, Friona, Littlefield, San Jacinto, Slaton, and Lubbock Christian . Team placings (in order) were Shallowater, Dimmitt, Abernathy, Slaton, Friona, and Littlefield.

Staying in the top 10 for the division was Rosalinda Comparan with a time of 14:08.99.

Hart had a good run at the event, according to Coach Ruby Romero.

“The varsity boys were led by Anthony Flores , Hugo Perez and Alton Washington improving their time by one minute each,” said Coach Romero. The varsity girls were led by Mia Minjarez medaling 9th followed by Nidia Minjarez and Paizlie Reyna Mata. The JV competed well this week including runners Lauren Valdez, Elizabeth Herrera, Karla Morales and Mia Lopez. Aiden Cisneros medaled for the junior high placing 7th, and for the junior high girls, Adamaris Morales medaled 5th and America Cardoza placed 15th”

The HHS Longhorns varsity ran against 69 runners from Southcrest Christian (1), New Deal (2), Springlake (3), Farwell (4)l, All Saints Episcopal (5), Ascension Academy (6), Hale Center (8), Kress, Happy, Lazbuddie, Floydada, Bovina and Lockney. Hart boys placed seventh overall as a team.

Top Longhorns runner for HHS was Anthony Palacios, who placed 29th, with a time of 19:30.30.

The HHS Ladyhorns placed fifth as a team competing against 88 runners from Farwell (1), New Deal (2), Springlake (3), Bovina (4), Floydada (6), Kress (7), Hale Center (8), Lockney (9), Lazbuddie, Happy, Cotton Center and Ascension Academy.

Staying in the top 10 of the pack was Mia Minjarez (9) with a time of 13:26.02.

One DHS and four HHS runners ran in the Women’s 2 Mile Junior Varsity. There were 52 runners from 10 schools including Plainview (1), Springlake (2), Abernathy (3), Littlefield (4), Cotton Center, Farwell, Happy, Slaton, Dimmitt, Hart, Friona and Lockney.

Top runner for DHS JV was Cierra Martinez who place 32nd with a time of 18:13.07, and for HHS JV, Lauren Valdez with a time of 20:24.92.
