Dimmitt, Naz XC teams compete at state

Cross country teams and individuals from Dimmitt High School and Nazareth High School competed in the Texas UIL State Cross Country Meet in Round Rock this past weekend.

The 1A and 3A competitions were held at Old Settler’s Park on Saturday.

The Nazareth girls XC team had a solid run at the meet, earning a State Runner-up title.

Nazareth girls were among 149 competitors in the 1A division 3200-meter race. Top runners for Nazareth were Madison Brockman in 20th, Kelsie Gunter, 21st, and Chloe Birkenfeld, 23rd. Townli Wheeler placed 46th, Lexi Ramaekers, 49th, Anna Chea, 133rd and Taylor Wethington, 134th. The team is coached by Whitney Bryan.

The top 1A girls runner was Taytum Goodman from Springlake Earth with a time of 11:11.2.

Dimmitt XC runner Azariah Gonzalez was in the top 10 of his 3A division at 8th place among 149 runners from across the state. Gonzalez’s time had a time of 16:28.4. Dimmitt XC is coached by Jason Ayala.

The top time in the 3A men’s 5K run came in from Noah Strohman from Holiday at 15:51.4.

Nazareth’s Bryson Brockman ran in the mens’ 1A 5K run. He placed 37th. Top runner in that division was Tayte Cormier from Mertzon County with a time of 16:25.0.
