TDMV reminds owners of inspection changes

Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TDMV) is reminding owners that starting New Year’s Day, non-commercial vehicles will no longer need a vehicle safety inspection prior to registration.All non-commercial vehicles in the state will still be subject to a $7.

AgriLife sets programs for early 2025

Plains Bancorp, Inc., the parent company of First United Bank, has entered into a Purchase & Assumption Agreement to acquire seven rural branch locations from Vista Bank. The transaction is expected to close on Feb. 28, 2025, pending customary regulatory approval.

Hegar distributes $1.2B in sales tax allocations

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced today he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations for December, 6.8 percent more than in December 2023.
The Dimmitt Chamber of Commerce held its Christmas Light Parade to kick the holiday off. Judges for the parade were Kelly Taylor, Diane Sanders and Connie Merritt. The bright event featured winners: Best Overall- Fast Eddie’s, Rocking 13 and Van Pelt Real Estate; Shining Star- First United Bank; and Most Festive-Sixth-grade Bobcats. Children also got to enjoy Santa and Mrs. Claus for reading at West Texas Coffee and the Lions Club tree lighting.
