Castro County 4-H had four teams compete in the District Food Challenge contest on Nov. 8. There were 503 youth and 139 teams. Castro Junior Team 1 placed second in the Junior Main Dish 1 competition. The contest is a youth version of chopped, with one ingredient provided and the opportunity to shop for a few ingredients from the grocery store. Youth have 40 minutes to make their dish before they present the plate, nutrients, their steps and safety.
