Workbench in the Man Cave

(Something triggers a memory) and I’m taken back through time to the basement of our Mycenae home. We called it the cellar and it was the original Man cave. I’m a young girl alone in a far corner of our damp and musty cellar. Cinder blocks go from floor to ceiling to make cellar walls.

USDA Launches Loan Assistance Tool

Abbott announces extension of emergency SNAPS

Governor Greg Abbott announced the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is providing more than $334.5 million in emergency Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) food benefits for the month of November. The allotments are expected to help about 1.6 million Texas households.
This past Saturday night at DHS, Castro 4-H had a booth at the Dimmitt Fall Carnival. Texas 4-H STEM Ambassador Spencer Acker planned the booth where youth colored Halloween faces and then used copper tape, to create a circuit that makes eyes light up. 4-Hers Harrison Meador, Caysen High, Oliver Meador and Remington Meador manned the booth and helped youth all night with their creations.

Hands of Hope finds new home

Castro County Hands of Hope (CCHoH) has found a new home at 113 W. Bedford. According to Janet Sammann, vice president of the organization, the projected pantry opening will be Nov. 17 after signing the agreement with the city on Monday.

Naz Ed Foundation donates $15,000

The Nazareth Education Foundation donated $15,000 to Nazareth ISD following its annual fundraiser on Oct. 15. NISD will be using the funds to complete replacing carpet in the elementary classrooms.

WTAMU student dies in train accident

A West Texas A&M student was hit by a train in Canyon on Halloween, according to Randall County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies were dispatched to the train tracks at North 24th Street and Buffalo Sports Park around 9:30 p.m. following a report of a pedestrian being hit.
