Western Circle Drive got a new coat of asphalt, with road construction that began on March 13. Bermea Construction was in charge of the project and some streets going into the area were closed off for a couple of weeks. Richard Bermea said he thanked the residents for having such patience and adhering to the road closures and inconveniences which affected school traffic.

State reports $3.68B sales tax revenue

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar said state sales tax revenue totaled $3.68 billion in March, 2.7 percent less than in March 2024. The majority of March sales tax revenue is based on sales made in February and remitted to the agency in March.

Texas Senate passes budget plan

The Senate unanimously passed its version of the state budget for 2026-2027 Tuesday, approving a plan to spend $153.5 billion in state revenue.Sen. Joan Huffman said with federal funds included, SB 1 would spend $336 billion.

Based on U3 charts, unemployment rates were higher in February in one state and stable in 49 states and the District of Columbia, according to the most recent U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

DHS Bobcats compete at THSPA

Dimmitt High School was represented by three lifters at the Texas High School Powerlifting Association in Abilene on May 21.Dallas Starkey, Arnoldo Ogaz and Ga’Quorie Chatham were among 269 powerlifters from across the state of Texas competing for top honors in the sport.
