Hegar Distributes $1.5B in sales tax revenue

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.5 billion in local sales tax allocations for February, 9.4 percent more than in February 2024.

Measles outbreak grows to 58 cases

The measles outbreak in rural West Texas has grown to 58 cases as of Tuesday, and eight people in eastern New Mexico also have been diagnosed with measles.The cases are concentrated in Gaines County, which has 45 infections.

Another 5.0 earthquake recorded in Texas

A 5.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded in West Texas near the border of Culberson and Reeves counties on Friday evening.According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake struck about 11:23 p.m., about 33 miles northwest of Toyah, Texas, and was felt as far away as El Paso.

The teams beat Pringle-Morse in bi-district, McLean in area to reach the semifinals game. They will be competing against either Whitharral or Texline (scores not in as of this time) for the Regional title in hopes of punching a ticket to the State basketball tournament.

The Nazareth Swiftettes claimed a victory over the Kress Lady Roos, 73-34.Nazareth scored with 25 of 44 2-point shots, four of 14 3-pointers, 11 of 13 free throws, had 23 assists, 15 offensive rebounds, 14 defensive rebounds, seven blocks, 46 deflections, 20 steals and 17 fouls.

The Nazareth Swiftettes claimed the bi-district title, defeating the Pringle-Morse Lady Cougars, 67-29.Nazareth moves up the playoff bracket to compete in Area against the McLean Lady Tigers this Thursday at 7 p.m. at Tascosa High School.
