Senate advances property tax cuts

The Senate Committee on Local Government on Tuesday unanimously approved measures that would further increase the homestead exemption, the amount of property value a homeowner can write off before assessment.

Measles reported in Gaines County

The South Plains Public Health District reported that there have been 15 confirmed measles cases in Gaines County, which includes the towns of Seminole, Seagraves and Loop.While a majority of the cases are school-aged children, there are now a few adult cases, all of whom were not vaccinated.
