Historical Society names Pat Padilla Farmer/Rancher of the Year

Pat Padilla, a local farmer and rancher with a passion for cattle and horses, was named the 2026 Farmer/Rancher of the Year by the Deaf Smith County Historical Society during ceremonies at the Hereford Jubilee Saturday, August 15 in Dameron Park.

Over the past year, I have personally known three people who have been bitten by stray or loose dogs in our community. Thankfully, not every loose dog is dangerous, but any animal running at large can create a safety concern for the animal, motorists, pedestrians, other pets, and our residents.

Spicer Gripp Memorial Youth Foundation moving annual roping event to May

The Spicer Gripp Committee is excited to announce that beginning in 2027, the annual Spicer Gripp Memorial will be held the first full weekend in May, marking the start of a new chapter for one of the Panhandle’s premier western events.

HEDC passes budget, renews offer on nine acres

Down a board member the Hereford Economic Development Corporation passed a $1,295,000 proposed budget on to the City Commission for approval at its Monday, August 10 meeting.The HEDC board also heard a proposal for a trucking business service by Brent Brethour.
