Last week Dimmitt’s Bobcats and Nazareth’s Swifts both played in the first round of the state football playoffs. In Bi-District action Dimmitt fell to Idalou, 49-7 while Nazareth topped Claude in six-man action, 74-65. Nazareth will take on Rankin in Hermleigh at 6 p.m. Friday.

On Nov. 8, Nazareth Robotic teams 16617 Swift-A-Maize and 18570 Alpha Swifts competed in their first competition of the season with FIRST Tech Challenge in Amarillo.Team 16617 consists of se- niors Spencer Acker, Anna Chea and Michael Fulkerson and junior Olivia Raef.

Thanksgiving is fast approaching, as evidenced by the decor here at Rhoads Memorial Library. Several children's books about the holiday are showcased and ready for checkout; even our display celebrates the annual event.
A COMMUNITY LANDMARK--The Italian Prisoners of War camp that was built south of Hereford in Castro County, and its presence had considerable impact in Castro and Deaf Smith Counties. Italian prisoners built this small chapel, a structure that still stands, outside the main camp, and it has endured despite weather damage and vandalism. Restored art from the front of the altar in the structure is housed in the Castro County Museum in Dimmitt for safekeeping.
